Job description
Overview

As a DevOps Engineer, you will join the Cloud Engineering team to design, build, and operationalize infrastructure in Azure Cloud. You will work closely with engineering and support teams to improve scalability, reliability, and speed to market.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to development and implementation of cloud strategy
  • Ensure design/change and execution align with best practices around infrastructure and security.
  • Design and implement cloud platforms and services using automation and coding.
  • Leverage orchestration and automation techniques to drive efficiency.
  • Work with the team on critical analysis and root cause analysis for operational problems (logs, metrics, traces).
  • Configure, build, maintain, and document Azure cloud components.
  • Continuously monitor and undertake security analysis of the platform using automated tools.
  • Patch and maintain Windows estate while overseeing move to Linux as standard for compute, data, and ancillary services.
  • Define, contribute, and update standard operating procedures for all operational aspects of the platform.
  • Be part of the OOH support rota in support of the services your team own and manage.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in an operational role with Azure cloud platform as an engineer or related technical cloud-focused role.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure and knowledge of cloud-native services (Azure DNS, Application Gateway, Azure SQL Server, App Services, Blob Storage, Load Balancer, WAF) and best practices.
  • Understanding of technologies that underpin a DevOps approach to cloud migration and management, including Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code, Containerisation, Orchestration, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and test automation using programming languages like Terraform, PowerShell, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of networking principles (IP addressing, virtual networks, network security and networking models).
  • Understanding of observability and site-reliability principles (SLOs, SLIs) and working with engineering teams to improve the applications and platform.
