Job summary

Capgemini UK is seeking a Platform Engineering Lead within Digital Customer Experience. You will lead multiple delivery projects, drive infrastructure as code, and support day‑to‑day operations to improve reliability and performance.

You will own design decisions, help with capacity planning and security, and ensure timely delivery. A Security Check clearance is required, and candidates must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery projects and day‑to‑day BAU and support tasks; create and deliver infrastructure as code to improve availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of services
• Lead troubleshooting and problem solving; assist with capacity planning and demand forecasting, performance analysis and tuning
• Lead design, architectures and standards for new projects or solutions to improve current infrastructure
• Contribute to stability and security of the environment
• Define processes and best practices for reliable and timely delivery and report work status with clear design choices
• Provide 24 x 7 on‑call support

The Platform Engineering capability within Digital is a growing team of people dedicated to ensuring that the technologies selected and the way that they are implemented meet the business objectives of our clients. There are several disciplines within the Digital Customer Experience team: delivery, business, integration and digital architects and technical managers, and many of our people can perform in more than one of these roles.

Your role

• Be the Lead on multiple delivery projects while working on day‑to‑day BAU and support tasks. Proactively create and deliver infrastructure as code to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our internal or customer‑facing services
• Lead troubleshooting and problem solving. Help with capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.
• Take the lead contributing and creating new designs, architectures and standards for new projects or solutions to improve current infrastructure.
• Contribute to the stability and security of the environment.
• Define process and best practices for reliable and timely delivery and communicate work status regularly with a clear articulation of design choices along the way.
• 24 x 7 on‑call support.

Essentials and Technical Skills

• Databases – (SQL/NoSQL) Cassandra knowledge would be great to have
• Scripting/System‑Programming – (Python/Bash/Go/Java) – Should have experience in at least 1 programming language

• CI/CD – Jenkins/Concourse/gitlab‑ci/github actions – should have at least 1
• Monitoring – Prometheus/Grafana/DataDog/Conviva/New Relic
• Logging systems (ELK); Cloud Platforms – deploying and automation (GCP)
