Venturi is recruiting a DevOps Lead to support a major UK government digital programme. This 12-month contract is remote-first with occasional travel to a client site in South London.

Onboarding will take 4 to 6 weeks, and you must hold active SC clearance. You will define the target CI/CD strategy, establish GitHub Actions as the primary platform, and migrate from CPT and Concourse CI while preserving governance and assurance outcomes.

We're recruiting for a DevOps Lead to support a major UK government digital programme.

The role

Core Cloud is now a production-ready platform offering, and the client is reviewing its future approach to Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. You will lead the work of moving from the existing Common Pipeline Tooling (CPT) and Concourse CI model towards GitHub via Core Cloud as the strategic platform, while maintaining, and where possible improving, existing governance and assurance outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define the target CI/CD and Route to Live approach within Core Cloud
• Establish GitHub Actions as the strategic CI/CD execution capability and set out how it should be used
• Identify the governance, assurance and attestation outcomes currently provided by CPT that should be retained or improved
• Determine how these outcomes can be delivered through native platform capabilities, reusable workflows, automated controls, policy and attestation
• Define common patterns, templates, blueprints and paved roads so teams can adopt the approach consistently
• Improve developer experience and reduce unnecessary complexity across the CI/CD lifecycle
• Reduce the long-term ownership and maintenance burden of bespoke CI/CD capabilities
• Define a practical migration approach from CPT and Concourse CI to the GitHub-based Route to Live

Essential skills

• Extensive technical architecture experience designing and assuring complex CI/CD or engineering platform services
• Strong understanding of build, test, security assurance, approval, artefact promotion, deployment and release architecture
• Good knowledge of Concourse CI and its use within an enterprise delivery platform
• Experience designing opinionated pipeline platforms using reusable templates, configuration and generated workflows
• Strong AWS architecture capability, including identity, integration, security, resilience and operational considerations
• Solid DevSecOps and identity/security architecture knowledge
• Experience designing Infrastructure-as-Code based environments and automation
• Ability to translate release, security and assurance requirements into proportionate automated controls
• Ability to produce and assure logical, technical, integration, security and transition architectures
• Hands-on experience with Bitbucket, SonarQube, Trivy and Checkov
• Experience with AWS event and API integration patterns
• Experience with container/image build platforms and artefact repositories
• Experience integrating CI/CD platforms with ServiceNow or a comparable ITSM/change management platform
• Experience designing observability, platform resilience and release-evidence capabilities
