Job summary

A technology solutions provider seeks an experienced DevOps Engineer to work on-site in Gloucestershire. The role involves maintaining a critical service and requires current DV clearance. Qualifications

  • Experience with IaC tools like Terraform.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation tasks.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitPod or Concourse CI.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Basic Linux SysAdmin - RHCSA.
  • Experience with MongoDB and/or Elastic.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage customer-requested integrations.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure health, and optimise system performance.
  • Deploy updates and perform regular maintenance.
  • Provide second-line technical support.

Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (Client site 3 days a week)

Salary: £50,000 - £75,000 (Depending on Experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday

The Role:

Our client is looking for experienced DevOps Engineers with current DV clearance to work in Gloucestershire. The role is office based and working alongside their client base team and involves the maintenance and support of a highly critical service in collaboration with client operations and security teams to ensure service remains optimised for performance and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage customer-requested integrations
  • Embed security practices throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Monitor and log application and infrastructure health, troubleshooting and optimising system performance based on key metrics
  • Deploy updates, fixes, and perform regular maintenance
  • Provide second-line technical support
  • Build tools and automation to reduce errors and enhance customer experience
  • Perform root cause analysis for production errors and implement long-term solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Automate tasks, including visualisation and reporting processes
  • Design and implement troubleshooting and maintenance procedures
  • Collaborate with teams for requirement gathering and documentation
  • Foster automation, orchestration, and Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) best practices
  • Promote a problem-solving mindset and a strong team-oriented approach
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Experience with Test is essential
Skills Required
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with IaC tools like Terraform
  • Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages for automation tasks. Strong experience with Python and/or Java preferred.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitPod or Concourse CI.
  • Networking: Knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, VPNs, load balancers, and DNS.
  • Containers: Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Operating Systems: Basic Linux SysAdmin - RHCSA.
  • Databases/Analytics: Experience with MongoDB and/or Elastic.
