Job description

Transform the business of healthcare with modern DevOps

At The Craneware Group, we’re changing how healthcare operates through data, insight, and technology. Our SaaS platforms support healthcare providers across the US, helping them make smarter, more sustainable decisions—and we’re just getting started.

With over 750 colleagues, we’re scaling cloud‑native platforms, modernising our delivery pipelines, and continuing to invest heavily in engineering excellence. If you enjoy building reliable, secure systems and shaping how software gets delivered at scale, this is a role where your work will genuinely matter.

Hybrid working: This role is based in the UK with a hybrid model—around 40% of your time per month spent in our Tanfield (Edinburgh) office.

The Team

We’re expanding our DevOps capability to support the continued growth of our cloud‑based, microservices platforms. You’ll join a small, agile, highly collaborative team, working closely with Software Engineers, Product, and customer‑facing teams to design and run production‑grade systems.

This is a hands‑on role with real influence—helping define how we build, deploy, monitor, and secure our applications in the cloud.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across the entire software delivery lifecycle, with ownership and autonomy to improve how we deliver and operate our platforms:

  • Designing and maintaining environments across the delivery lifecycle (dev → test → prod)
  • Building and evolving CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, reliable releases
  • Implementing secure access models and gated release mechanisms
  • Improving deployment frequency, reliability, and transparency
  • Implementing monitoring, alerting, and health checks for live systems
  • Creating scripted, temporary or on‑demand environments for delivery teams
  • Managing environment configuration and operational consistency
  • Supporting delivery teams to help them move faster and safer
  • Writing and maintaining runbooks, documentation, and DevOps standards
What you’ll bring
Experience & mindset
  • Around 3+ years’ experience working in a DevOps, Platform, or Cloud Engineering role
  • Hands‑on experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern ALM tools
  • Experience operating in a cloud‑based, microservices environment
  • Exposure to relational and/or NoSQL data platforms
  • A passion for automation, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to evaluate and champion new or emerging technologies
  • (e.g. Docker or other containerisation approaches)
Skills
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to take ownership of engineering challenges
  • Comfortable communicating technical ideas to a range of audiences
  • Able to balance reliability, security, and delivery speed within real‑world constraints
  • A collaborative approach—this is a team sport, not a siloed role
Why Craneware?
  • Work on mission‑critical platforms that support healthcare providers at scale
  • Influence how DevOps is done, not just follow a fixed playbook
  • A strong engineering culture focused on quality, trust, and continuous learning
  • Hybrid working that supports flexibility while maintaining collaboration
  • Long‑term product vision, stable funding, and meaningful impact
