Job summary

Octric Semiconductor is expanding its team in the northeast and seeks engineers to advance RF/microwave device characterisation and modelling. The role focuses on DC and RF tests, model generation, and PDK support within a state‑of‑the‑art 10,000 m² facility in Newton Aycliffe, UK.

You will work closely with designers, provide technical reports, and contribute to process development while aiming for high reliability and performance in next‑generation compound semiconductors.

Responsibilities

• Characterise device performance: DC, pulsed I‑V, noise, small & large‑signal microwave tests.
• Create small and large‑signal device and passive models.

• Collaborate with designers to capture requirements, provide support and feedback.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
• Support development projects and operations with device characterisation expertise.

Summary of Responsibilities: (including financial and people responsibilities)

• Perform & direct RF characterization for the development and validation of device models and to support the device engineering activities
• Develop compact models of compound semiconductor device technology for MMIC Process Design Kits (PDKs)
• Provide customer support on PDKs.
• Keep abreast of latest device characterisation and modelling techniques to ensure our PDKs are competitive and customer design experience productive.
• Provide device assessment capability to support new process development

MainTasks:

• Characterization of device performance including DC, pulsed I-V, noise, small & large-signal microwave performance
• Generation of small and large-signal device and passive component models
• Contribute t o the development of process PDKs
• Interact with designers to understand requirements, provide support and receive feedback
• Provision of technical reports and documentation
• Support development projects and operations staff with device characterisation expertise

Experience:

• DC and RF/microwave semiconductor device characterisation
• Programming, especially in a test environment

Technical Skills:

• Understanding of RF/microwave device physics
• Proficient at RF/microwave test
• In depth understanding of small and large-signal circuit theory and device equivalent circuits.
• Appreciation of compact device modelling
• Proficient in a programming language

Personal Qualities:

• Responsive to team requirements and to demanding timescales
• A self-starter with good initiative
• Keen to learn

Education / Qualifications:

• BEng, BSc in Electronic Engineering, Physics or related subject
• Must be a UK National and be willing to be security cleared
