Job summary

Avencia Talent Solutions Limited is seeking a Life Sciences Underwriter to join a flexible UK-wide team. The role offers hybrid working across Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham or London with broker-facing duties and development of the Life Sciences portfolio.

You will build broker relationships, underwrite new business, and support the growth of a specialist market proposition with training and guidance from experienced Life Sciences underwriters.

Qualifications

• Commercial underwriting experience in Commercial Combined, P&C or Life Sciences.
• Understanding SME or mid-market risks and sound commercial decision-making.
• Experience building broker relationships and winning new business.
• Confidence in broker meetings, presentations and trading conversations.
• Proactive diary management with the ability to travel across the UK.
• Life Sciences experience is not essential; specialists may move into underwriting.

Life Sciences Underwriter

Flexible UK location | Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, London

Hybrid working

An established specialist insurer is looking for a Development Underwriter to help grow its Life Sciences portfolio.

This newly created role offers scope to build broker relationships, influence underwriting appetite and develop your specialist market profile. Commercial Combined and P&C underwriters are welcome, with Life Sciences training and technical support available.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with national, regional and specialist brokers through regular visits and market engagement.
• Identify, underwrite and convert profitable new business, supported by experienced Life Sciences specialists.
• Develop broker panels, open new trading relationships and grow existing accounts.
• Share market insight to help shape underwriting appetite and the future direction of the proposition.

Skills & experience

• Commercial underwriting experience in Commercial Combined, P&C or Life Sciences.
• Understanding of SME or mid-market risks and sound commercial decision-making skills.
• Experience building broker relationships and winning new business.
• Confidence in broker meetings, presentations and trading conversations.
• A proactive approach, with the ability to manage your own diary and travel regularly across the UK.
• Life Sciences experience is not essential. Specialist Life Sciences brokers and Account Executives interested in moving into underwriting will also be considered.
