Job summary

TipTopJob in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, is seeking a Development Technologist to lead concept and recipe development within the NPD team. You will work closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to move ideas from concept through to launch.

The role requires a degree in Food Science or Chemistry with 3+ years in food manufacturing, strong PM and communication skills, and a focus on quality and compliance. Mon-Fri, with a competitive package and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept and recipe development for new and existing products.
• Work with customers to understand briefs and develop product solutions.
• Prepare samples and support bench, pilot and factory trials.
• Create and maintain accurate product development documentation.
• Ensure products meet nutritional, technical and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Technical, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
• Support product launches and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with customer complaints and investigations related to formulation.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and compliance.

A well:established and award:winning food manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Development Technologist to join its innovative NPD team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a food professional with product development experience to take ownership of the concept and recipe development stage of new and existing products. Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will help bring exciting food products from concept through to launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead concept and recipe development for new and existing products.
• Work closely with customers to understand briefs and develop product solutions.
• Prepare samples and support bench, pilot and factory trials.
• Create and maintain accurate product development documentation.
• Ensure products meet nutritional, technical and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Technical, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
• Support product launches and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with customer complaints and investigations where formulation is a contributing factor.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and compliance.

About You

• Degree or qualification in Food Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Previous food manufacturing experience, ideally 3+ years.
• Experience taking products from concept through to launch.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of customer requirements.
• Good kitchen and recipe development skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong IT skills, including Excel.
• HACCP qualification beneficial.
• Knowledge of food labelling legislation would be advantageous.
