Working in an Agile environment, you’ll help shape the team’s technical direction and development practices while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

Whether you’re an established Team Leader or a senior developer with proven leadership experience looking to take the next step, we’d love to hear from you. The role can flex to suit your background, with the balance between technical and leadership responsibilities tailored accordingly.

In This Role You Will
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of developers, setting clear goals and nurturing a culture of learning and shared success.
  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of software projects in an Agile setting, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with business priorities.
  • Provide technical leadership, guiding architectural decisions and promoting best practices in coding, design, and testing.
  • Manage relationships with third‑party development service providers, ensuring quality delivery, clear communication, and alignment with Neptune's standards.
  • Conduct code reviews and champion continuous improvement across tools and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with QA, UX/UI, DevOps, and stakeholders to deliver seamless, high‑performing software.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and introduce new ideas to enhance efficiency and product quality.
You'll Bring
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience gained in a professional software development environment.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and guide a development team.
  • Strong technical background in VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, and .NET Core, with experience using GIT and version control.
  • Familiarity with Azure Functions, Razor Views, and environments such as VM/IIS and private cloud hosting.
  • Proven experience modernising legacy systems and implementing integrated third‑party solutions.
  • Experience with SQL Server/MySQL, API development (RESTful, JSON/XML), and DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in Retail or Distribution businesses.
  • An organised, structured approach, clear communication style, and calmness under pressure.
  • Flexibility to occasionally support key deployments outside normal hours.

This role is based at our stunning offices in Swindon, Wiltshire, with home remote working part of the week. You’ll bring a willingness to travel and occasionally work evenings, weekends, or on‑call as part of a rotational schedule.

Please note that we are unable to accept speculative CV’s for this role from recruitment agencies.
