Job summary

You will provide technical direction, oversee delivery and quality, and work with Product Owners, Analysts, Architects, and stakeholders to prioritise work.

This newly created role focuses on people leadership, engineering best practices, and practical use of AI to strengthen existing systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading software development teams and managing team leads.
• Strong technical background guiding engineering decisions and delivery.
• Experience using AI to improve systems, processes, or software delivery.
• Experience delivering and supporting business-critical applications.
• Solid knowledge of SDLC, release management, testing, and modern engineering standards.

What you will do:

• Lead multiple development teams and dedicated testing team through team leads.
• Provide technical guidance while maintaining responsibility for delivery, quality, and team performance.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, and key stakeholders to prioritise and deliver work.
• Oversee project delivery, releases, operational support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coach and develop team leaders, building a high-performing engineering culture.
• Improve development practices, delivery processes, and software quality across the team.
• Identify practical opportunities to use AI to improve systems and ways of working.

Skills and experience we are looking for:

• Proven experience leading software development teams, including managing team leads.
• Strong technical background with the ability to guide engineering decisions and delivery.
• Commercial experience using AI to improve systems, processes, or software delivery.
• Experience delivering and supporting business-critical applications.
• Sound knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, release management, testing, and modern engineering standards.
• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and balancing competing priorities.
• Confident communicator who can challenge ideas when needed and manage difficult conversations professionally.
• Practical leadership style with strong coaching and performance management skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
