Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs in the United Kingdom seeks a senior investment professional to lead development platform modelling and portfolio oversight for renewable energy projects. You will build financial models, evaluate IRR and capital needs, and prepare materials for funding decisions and potential exits.

You will collaborate with portfolio leaders and internal experts to challenge assumptions, monitor performance, and align on value creation and governance across multiple investments.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in private equity, infrastructure investment, renewable energy investment, investment banking or similar.
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and investment-analysis skills.
• Experience preparing investment committee or board materials.
• Good understanding of investment returns, capital allocation and risk.
• Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear recommendations.
• Strong written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams across investments.

Responsibilities

• Develop platform financial models for development platforms and project portfolios, evaluating IRR and capital needs.
• Assess impact of development timelines, capacity, grid connectivity, and permits on returns.
• Prepare IC papers and rationale for funding, acquisitions, restructurings and exits.
• Coordinate with portfolio leadership and internal specialists to align on investment cases.
• Monitor operational and financial performance of portfolio companies against plans and budgets.
• Track development milestones including land, grid, permitting, RTB, NTP and construction.
• Review development expenditure requests and shareholder funding across projects.
• Challenge development timing, probability and cost to guide funding decisions or exits.
• Provide governance oversight, valuation and IC materials for portfolio company bolt-ons.
• Analyse sale opportunities and transaction readiness for exits or transfers into IPP structures.
• Act as board observer or steering committee member for selected portfolio companies.
• Collaborate with executives to challenge data and improve governance.
