Job summary

A local charity organization in Richmond is seeking a Development Officer to raise funds and awareness for their services. This part-time role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. You will be responsible for following the Fundraising Strategy, writing grant applications, and managing relationships with donors. Ideal candidates will be resourceful and self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team. Applications are open-ended.

Are you the resourceful, organised multi-tasker for this local part-time role?

SEEN is a small Christian charity based in Twickenham providing support and information to anyone with a crisis pregnancy or pregnancy loss, and relationships and sex education in schools.

The role of the Development Officer is to raise funds and the profile of SEEN, so that pregnancy crisis and pregnancy loss clients can be supported, and young people are educated about relationships and sex.

In the role, you will follow the organisation’s Fundraising Strategy to raise sufficient funds to achieve the objectives of the organisation’s Business Plan, through writing grant applications and organise fundraising events.

You will also develop and maintain relationships with donors and volunteers, and raise awareness of SEEN and the services the organisation provides.

Applicants will need skills in people management, marketing, organisation and IT skills, strategy finance and budgeting, and funding bid research and writing.

Essential skills you will need include:

  • being a fluent English speaker with good written and verbal communication skills
  • being self-motivated and resourceful
  • having strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and to work with attention to detail
  • being a flexible multi-tasker who can work independently as well as part of a team
  • having a good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and ideally PowerPoint
  • respecting confidentiality.
