If you wish to discuss how that might impact your working arrangements please contact the recruiting manager listed at the bottom.

Our office base

Our main office is based at Riduna Park, Melton opposite Melton train station with direct links to Lowestoft and Ipswich. There are bike shelters and showers available on site. Frequent travel to Mid‑Suffolk will be essential for the role and joint working arrangements with key partners will be confirmed once the post holder has been appointed.

Active Suffolk

Active Suffolk is an independent, not‑for‑profit organisation hosted by East Suffolk Council. We are committed to increasing the number of people taking part in physical activity and sport to improve health and wellbeing. We work with a wide range of partners, including local authorities, the health sector, charitable/voluntary and third‑sector organisations, to support people in Suffolk to lead healthy, active lives.

Your role

This newly created Place‑based Development Officer – Children and Young People – will work with a broad range of partners and sectors in Mid Suffolk to support the implementation of the Sport England Place‑Based approach. You will develop and enhance the Sport & Physical Activity infrastructure, workforce and wider community health & wellbeing outcomes. You will ensure effective partnership working and develop key relationships between partner organisations, education settings and the local community in a whole‑systems place‑based approach to support the health and wellbeing of local communities.

Core Principles and Values
  • Integrity – we commit to making decisions aligned to our organisational aims, values and principles. We will make the right decision, not the easy one.
  • Inclusive – we recognise that listening to, capturing and engaging with differing views and experiences allows us to continue to grow and learn. We will continually champion equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Collaborative – partnership working is at the heart of everything we do and we believe collaboration is key to providing positive physical activity outcomes.
  • Adaptable – we recognise that barriers to physical activity are complex and changeable, and we must be adaptable to meet these challenges.
  • Informed – data and insight will drive our decision making to ensure we maximise impact in areas of most need.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Active Suffolk takes pride in our approach to diversity and inclusion. We welcome the unique contributions that applicants can bring in terms of lived experience, and we guarantee interview opportunities to disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria of the role.

Benefits
  • Great opportunities for training and development
  • Generous leave entitlement (24 days a year, increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays)
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Free car parking (when working in the office)
  • Discounts on mobile phones, computers, holiday, travel, fashion, health and beauty and many other products and services.
