grüum is seeking a proactive Development Chemist to join the product development team in Stockport. You will formulate skincare, haircare, body care and home care products, scale up from lab to production, and work with Quality, Production and suppliers to meet regulatory and commercial requirements.

The role requires a 4+ year industry background, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related software. Weekend shifts are not required.

Qualificações

• BSc or equivalent in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Life Sciences or related field.
• At least four years’ experience working in industry.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
• Flexibility: ability to react to changes in priority and workload.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills; liaise with personnel at all levels.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Claude or similar software.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Development Chemist to join our product development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality skincare, haircare, body care and home care formulations from initial concept through to launch. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a lab and manufacturing environment. You’ll use your initiative and work collaboratively with Quality, Production and suppliers to ensure projects move forward effectively and meet regulatory and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate new products and optimise existing ones across skincare, haircare, body care and home care.
• Scale up batches from laboratory size to full-scale production.
• Liaise with suppliers for samples of new raw materials and relevant documentation.
• Pack off products for testing, trials and small-scale production.

Testing and Analysis:

• Carry out a variety of tests to assess the quality, efficacy and stability of personal care and home care products using appropriate laboratory equipment.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures and results.
• Arrange external testing when required.
• Support blenders with the first manufacture of new products.
• Provide technical support when formulation or production challenges arise during scale-up and manufacture.

Quality Assurance:

• Maintain quality control measures to ensure the consistency and safety of our products.
• Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory submissions as needed.
• Compile INCI listings for labels.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
• Keep on top of raw material and consumable stock levels in the laboratory.
• Maintain a good standard of housekeeping to keep the laboratory clean and organised.

Requirements:
