Job summary

Greencore at Manton Wood is seeking a Despatch Materials Handler. You’ll work between Production windows and the picking/stores area, helping to keep lines moving by ensuring correct packaging, trays and labels are ready, and that received product is chilled to the right temperature before despatch.

This is a physical, role that involves heavy lifting and using hand pallet trucks. You should be able to read and write English, do basic maths, follow written and spoken instructions, and work well

Qualifications

• Able to read and write in English.
• Basic level of maths required (counting stock, using calculators).
• Ability to work under pressure to ensure lines are serviced and run continuously.
• Great attention to detail (traceability paperwork).
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with the team.

Responsibilities

• Setting up lines for production with correct packaging/trays/cages and labels.
• Ensuring tape machines are set up and supplied with tape to keep lines running.
• Using hand pallet trucks to move packaging/materials.
• Moving finished products to blast chills from production lines.
• Booking stock into chills using JBA guns and completing traceability paperwork.
• Counting stock to ensure adequate supply of packaging and finished stock.
• Moving finished products to pick areas once chilled for palletising and despatch.

Shift Pattern - Alternating Wednesday to Saturday 17:30 - 05:30

Rate of Pay - £15.50 Per Hour

Overtime - Paid at x 1.25 after 48 hours

What you'll be doing

As a Despatch Materials Handler, you will be working between the Production windows and picking/stores area. As an essential part of the Low-Risk team, you will be assisting in ensuring our products our produced to the highest quality and standards. You will be ensuring each window has the correct packaging and trays as well as enough to keeps the lines moving. You will also be responsible for ensuring product received from the production area is chilled to the correct temperature before being picked and despatched.

This a physical role which requires some heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Setting up of lines ready for production to start – making sure correct packaging/trays/cages are available, correct labels are set up for printing

• Ensuring tape machines are set up correctly and supplied with tape to keep lines running.

• Using hand pallet trucks to move packaging/materials throughout the area

• Moving finished products from the production lines to the blast chills

• Booking stock into the chills ready to be picked (using JBA guns)

• Completion of traceability paperwork for blast chilling (use by dates, temperatures, times)

• Counting of stock (both packaging and finished products) to ensure we always have adequate supply of packaging and to ensure correct amounts of finished stock are produced

• Moving of finished products (cages, trays on wheels) to pick areas once chilled to be palletised and despatched

Previous experience in a similar role/food environment (Desirable, not necessary)

• Able to read and write in English

• Basic level of Maths required (counting stock, using calculators, JBA guns)

• Ability to work under some pressure to ensure lines are serviced and able to run continuously

• Great attention to detail (completing traceability paperwork, important to be accurate)

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Strong communication skills and desire to work with other team members.
