Job summary

SER Limited is seeking a Designer to lead the design process for roofing, cladding and rainscreen façades from start to finish at our Paddock Wood, Kent office. The role supports a multi-disciplinary team and requires close collaboration with the Design Manager and project teams.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in industrial roofing/cladding design, strong detailing skills and proficiency in AutoCAD. Hybrid working may be available depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' relevant design experience.
• Experience within industrial roofing, cladding and/or rainscreen façades.
• Strong technical drawing and detailing ability; knowledge of façade/roofing systems and interfaces.
• Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawings for roofing, cladding and/or rainscreen façade projects.
• Develop elevations, sections, junction details and setting-out information.
• Review project information and identify design requirements and interfaces.
• Carry out site surveys as required.
• Coordinate with project teams, consultants and subcontractors.
• Support technical approvals, submittals and RFIs.
• Schedule materials required to deliver each project.
• Resolve design and coordination issues throughout the project lifecycle and ensure compliance with regulations and specs.

Designer - Roofing, Cladding & Rainscreen Façades

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Annual Bonus

Location: Paddock Wood, Kent | Full-Time

The company

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Designer to join a well-established and growing specialist contractor based in Paddock Wood, Kent.

The business operates across two specialist divisions under one roof. Industrial Roofing & Cladding and Rainscreen Façades - delivering both refurbishment and new-build projects across the UK.

With a turnover of approximately £10m-£15m, the company delivers projects ranging from £10k to several million pounds across roofing and cladding, while its rainscreen façade division undertakes projects typically ranging from £250k to £8m.

The Role

Once a project has been secured, you'll take ownership of the design process from start to finish, ensuring the project is fully designed, coordinated and ready for delivery.

Working closely with the Design Manager, who has been with the business for 17 years, alongside the wider design and project teams, you'll be responsible for developing practical and technically accurate design solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing detailed drawings for roofing, cladding and/or rainscreen façade projects.
• Developing elevations, sections, junction details and setting-out information.
• Reviewing project information and identifying design requirements and interfaces.
• Carrying out site surveys where required.
• Coordinating with project teams, consultants and subcontractors.
• Supporting technical approvals, submittals and RFIs.
• Scheduling the materials required to deliver each project.
• Resolving design and coordination issues throughout the project lifecycle.Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, fire safety requirements and project specifications.

Who They're Looking For

You'll ideally have:

• 3+ years' relevant design experience.
• Experience within industrial roofing, cladding and/or rainscreen façades.
• Strong technical drawing and detailing ability.
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Good knowledge of façade/roofing systems, fixings and interfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

The Package

• £40,000 - £50,000, depending on experience.
• Annual bonus based on company performance.
