Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a talented Technical Designer in Newhaven. In this fully office-based role, you'll be responsible for translating creative concepts into technical drawings for manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in retail or event design and excellent skills in SketchUp, Vectric / VCarve, and SolidWorks. • Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm

We are looking for a talented Technical Designer to work with an award‑winning creative design and manufacturing business in Newhaven where you will work as part of a small, passionate team who are proud to work with well‑known brand names. As a designer with retail or event design experience you’ll translate design concepts into technical drawings and work internally / with clients to discuss materials required.

The Designer job includes:

• Using your creative flair to take concepts and create technical drawings for manufacturing
• Working on a variety of projects across retail and events, coming from a background of experience within this sector
• Creating technical drawings that are backed by an understanding of production methods and knowledge of relevant materials
• Working with project and production managers to discuss and understand clients’ needs
• Designing clear, concise technical drawings to be sent to CNC and other machinery, with clear production packs that show methods of manufacturing and use of materials

Skills & experience required:

• Strong experience in a similar role, gained from a relevant industry
• Excellent SketchUp, Vectric / VCarve and SolidWorks skills
• Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator
• Knowledge of manufacturing materials and processes

Salary, hours and Company benefits:

• £35,000 to £40,000 based on experience
• 30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, fully office based in Newhaven
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
