Job summary

Teach South Kent is seeking a Design Technology Teacher for supply across Hastings and surrounding areas. Roles include day-to-day cover, short-term assignments and longer-term placements from September 2026, with opportunities across KS3/KS4 in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering, Food Tech, Textiles and related areas.

We welcome applicants with QTS or relevant teaching experience and a strong practical, technical knowledge plus effective classroom management to support

Qualifications

• QTS or relevant teaching experience.
• Secondary DT teaching experience required.
• Strong technical and practical knowledge for class work.
• Effective classroom management and commitment to progress.

Responsibilities

• Teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4.
• Delivering practical and theory-based lessons.
• Teaching towards GCSE where required.
• Supporting students through practical projects.
• Maintaining safe working practices in workshops.
• Planning lessons for longer-term placements.
• Assessing student work and progress.
• Managing practical classrooms and workshops effectively.

We are working with secondary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas who require DT Teachers to support their departments.
