Job summary

SER Limited is seeking an experienced Electrical AutoCAD Technician to join their Newcastle team. You will transform concept designs into detailed manufacturing drawings, using AutoCAD Electrical and related tools, while supporting a range of electrical utility projects across the UK.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with occasional site visits, a 30k–45k salary (DOE), and a strong training focus within a close-knit team.

Qualifications

• Experience creating / modifying electrical schematics in Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical (min 2 years).
• Experience creating / modifying electrical cabinet internal layouts (min 2 years).
• Proficient with MS Office suite.
• Ability to collaborate using Microsoft Teams.
• Knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems and electrical building systems.
• Good fundamentals of electrical engineering design principles.
• Proficient in producing intelligent library blocks with attributes for data extraction.
• Proficient in CAD data file management and drawing management procedures.
• Strong attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
• Able to work as part of a small team and liaise with site teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, develop and amend drawings per standards, timescales and deadlines.
• Design layouts, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, BOMs and cut lists.
• Provide technical support to shop floor and on-site technicians.
• Revise drawings and red-line markups as needed.
• Liaise with stakeholders across teams and projects.
• Propose improvements to streamline drawing and engineering processes.
• Attend occasional site surveys.

They are currently in an exciting phase of growth and are looking for an ambitious Electrical CAD Technician to join their close-knit team.

About the Role

An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Electrical AutoCAD Technician to join a specialist design and development team. Taking concept designs through to detailed manufacturing drawings, you will use your knowledge of AutoCAD (Electrical) Software and parametric modelling software, alongside experience of working on a wide variety of electrical projects. This role offers variety, technical challenge, and the chance to contribute to essential utility projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Prepare, produce, develop and amend drawings in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures, and in line with agreed timescales and deadlines.

• Design layouts, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly and part drawings, and associated cable schedules, BOMs and cut lists.

• Provide technical support to shop floor and on-site technicians.

• Revise drawings and red-line markups appropriately.

• Liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders across various teams, discipline groups, and projects.

• Be proactive in streamlining and automating drawing and engineering processes, and propose improvement ideas.

• Attend occasional site surveys.

Requirements

• Experience of creating / modifying electrical schematics in Autodesk AutoCAD (minimum 2 years).

• Experience of creating / modifying electrical cabinet internal layouts (minimum 2 years).

• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications (essential).

• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively using Microsoft Teams (essential).

• Knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems and electrical building systems.

• A good knowledge of electrical engineering design principles.

• Proficient in producing intelligent library blocks with attributes for data extraction.

• Proficient in CAD data file management and drawing management procedures.

• Good attention to detail, working in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work as part of a small team / liaise with site teams.

• Good communication skills, both written and oral.

• Ability to deal with requests for information in a professional manner.

• Willingness to travel for occasional site visits.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Experience of using Autodesk REVIT to produce electrical equipment room layouts.

• Knowledge of Solidworks Electrical Schematic Software.

• Experience of dealing with a key infrastructure client.

• Experience in Security, Access Control and CCTV Alarm Systems.

• Knowledge / experience of National Grid Drawing procedures TP135.

• HNC/HND/BTec in Engineering (Electrical) - preferred but not essential.
