Department Description

Marex has unique access across markets with significant share globally both on and off exchange. The depth of knowledge amongst its teams and divisions provides its customers with clear advantage, and its technology-led service provides access to all major exchanges, order-flow management via screen, voice and DMA, plus award-winning data, insights and analytics.

The Technology Department delivers differentiation, scalability and security for the business. Technology provides digital tools, software services and infrastructure globally to all business groups. Software development and support teams work in agile ‘streams’ aligned to specific business areas. Our other teams work enterprise-wide to provide critical services including our global service desk, network and system infrastructure, IT operations, security, enterprise architecture and design.

Role Summary

Marex's products span client-facing trading, risk, data and reporting platforms and internal tools for front and back office teams. Most sit on the Marex Design System (MDS), built on MUI and maintained by a small product design team working with front-end engineers across the business.

You will own MDS alongside the Lead Product Designer and UI Engineer: tokens, components, theming, patterns, accessibility, documentation and adoption. The aim is a standardised, self-serve system that gives users one consistent experience across Marex products. MDS grew organically under delivery pressure, so part of the job is bringing design and code into line and keeping them there.

The role reports to the Lead Product Designer.

  • Shape the roadmap with the Lead Product Designer based on impact across products.
  • Put processes in place where they are missing (contribution, review, versioning, release, deprecation) and run them.
  • Spend time with the business to understand who uses MDS and how.
  • Work with the product team and development streams to dentify shared patterns across products and turn them into system components.
  • Keep Figma and code aligned, and plan migrations when they disagree.
  • Build components and tokens to a standard engineers can implement directly.
  • Work with brand and engineering so the system reflects Marex's identity and what can realistically be built.
  • Measure adoption and raise systems thinking across the design team.
All staff
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the FCA, NFA, AMF, AFM, MAS.
  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
  • Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
  • At all times complying with the FCA’s Code of Conduct
  • To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility
