This role will take responsibility for Safran Electrical & Power Pitstone & Twinsburg sites UK CAA Part 21J & O Design Organisation Quality Assurance oversight, often seen as the facilitator for changes necessary to effect airworthiness across the organisation. Maintaining design assurance within the defined company processes and procedures, primarily working towards ensuring 100% compliance. Acting as the focal point for the quality of all R&T (Research & Technology) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, helping to make design processes more robust using the promotion and implementation of APQP methodology throughout the process for industrial application and Transfer of Work (TOW) activities. You will also be Independent System Monitoring Manager (ISMM) nominated post holder for the Motors EASA Part 21J Type Certification Design Organisation Approval. - Maintain the Design Organisation Approval Handbook's for compliance to regulation and internal processes, under the ownership of the Head of Design.
- Perform the role of Coordinator of our DOA/ADOA/ETSO approvals with the authorities across both sites.
- Host the annual EASA/UK CAA Surveillance visits and coordinate closure of any findings.
- Develop an annual internal technical audit plan to meet regulatory requirements, reporting the technical quality maturity status for engineering projects on a regular basis, increasing general awareness and importance of Technical Audits with experts by providing regular information and communications to teams.
- Ensure lessons learnt are fed back into the Engineering processes & procedures, they are fully understood, applied and followed.
- Develop, implement and maintain the Programmes coordination of DO-PO's via the PROMPT (APQP) process in readiness for entry into service along with Capability Lists.
- Participate in the Officers of Airworthiness (OoA) and the Annual Airworthiness Policy Reviews. Identify Airworthiness training needs in conjunction with the OoA's.
What You'll Bring to Safran
- Science or Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Experience in the aerospace industry or equivalent in engineering, design & development or quality positions
- Knowledge of UK CAA / EASA Part 21J & O airworthiness processes
- Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO19011, AS9100
- Experience in internal and external audit and auditing techniques
- APQP Tools knowledge and domain, PDCA, DMAIC and other related tools knowledge
- Configuration and data management
- Ability to work at a senior level across multiple functions
- Good skills for quality issues investigation, audit, analysis and correction/prevention
