Job summary

VANRATH is seeking a Design Office Supervisor in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland, to lead a BIM team and oversee design, detailing, and fabrication drawings for precast concrete projects. The role reports to the Design Manager within a modern office environment.

You will manage workloads, develop BIM standards, and liaise with manufacturing and site teams to ensure quality, safety, and on-time delivery. A relevant degree is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in the design, detailing, and technical aspects of precast concrete products.
• Proven track record supervising or leading BIM technicians in an office environment.
• Strong knowledge of structural drafting principles and BIM workflows.
• Excellent organisational skills to prioritise and manage multiple projects.
• Effective communicator capable of liaising with internal teams, clients, and manufacturing partners.
• Solid understanding of Eurocodes and safety standards.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of BIM technicians, supporting their growth and ensuring high-quality output.
• Oversee and review the development of 3D models, fabrication drawings, and schedules to guarantee structural integrity and compliance with project specs.
• Coordinate workloads within the team to align with milestones and manufacturing schedules.
• Act as a liaison between the design office, manufacturing facilities, and site teams to resolve technical queries.
• Maintain and develop BIM standards, drafting protocols, and workflows for efficiency and accuracy.
• Support the delivery of complex projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
• Contribute to ongoing process improvements and stay current with industry advancements.

About you

• Solid understanding of industry regulations, including Eurocodes and safety standards
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline is desirable but not essential
