Job summary

Pinnacle Recruitment are recruiting an experienced Design Manager to lead the design process for water infrastructure projects in the Anglian Water AMP8 programme. Based in Peterborough, you will work with Project Managers, planners, commercial teams and supply chain partners to deliver compliant, buildable designs from concept to construction.

You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, challenge designs for constructability, and ensure alignment with programme and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Design Manager in construction or civil infrastructure.
• Experience in water/wastewater sector is advantageous.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams and consultants.
• Strong CDM, risk management and compliance knowledge.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage design processes across multiple water projects.
• Lead design development from concept to construction.
• Coordinate design information between internal teams, consultants, designers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure designs meet programme, budget and client specifications.
• Review designs for practicality, buildability and compliance with standards.

Pinnacle Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to join a major UK infrastructure contractor working across the Anglian Water AMP8 framework, based out of their Peterborough office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term water infrastructure programme, supporting the design and delivery of a range of clean water and wastewater projects across the Anglian Water region.

As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from concept and pre-construction through to construction and completion. You will work closely with Project Managers, Planners, Commercial teams, site teams, designers, consultants and supply chain partners to ensure designs are developed and delivered to the required technical, programme and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple water and wastewater projects.
• Lead design development from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
• Coordinate design information between internal teams, consultants, designers, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure designs are delivered in line with project programmes, budgets, specifications and client requirements.
• Review and challenge designs to ensure they are practical, buildable and compliant with relevant standards.
• Manage design deliverables, technical submissions, approvals and design reviews.
• Work closely with construction teams to ensure designs are suitable for delivery on site.
• Identify and manage design risks, opportunities, interfaces and technical issues.
• Coordinate design changes and assess their potential impact on programme, cost and construction.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Design Manager within construction, civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure.
• Experience within the water and wastewater sector would be highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of design management processes and construction delivery.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Good understanding of civil engineering and/or water infrastructure design.
• Experience taking projects from concept through to construction and completion.
• Strong understanding of CDM, design risk management and technical compliance.
• Ability to understand and challenge technical information while maintaining a practical, delivery-focused approach.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within a framework environment would be advantageous.
• Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction, design management or a related discipline are desirable.
