Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced Design Manager with a background in roofing, cladding, or façade systems to oversee the design process from concept to completion. You will coordinate technical design elements, manage design teams and subcontractors, and ensure all design documentation aligns with project specifications, budget, and programme requirements.
Responsibilities
- Managing the full design process for roofing, cladding, and façade projects from tender through to handover.
- Coordinating with architects, consultants, clients, and project teams to deliver compliant, buildable, and cost-effective designs.
- Overseeing internal and external design teams to ensure quality and accuracy of drawings and documentation.
- Reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and materials for compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Providing design input during pre-construction and tender phases.
- Attending client and coordination meetings, providing technical advice and design updates.
- Identifying design risks and working with project stakeholders to mitigate issues.
- Ensuring design deliverables meet programme milestones and budget constraints.
- Supporting project delivery teams with design clarification during construction stages.
What you will need to succeed
- Proven experience as a Design Manager (or Senior Designer looking to step up) within the roofing, cladding, or façade industry.
- Strong technical understanding of building envelope systems and associated detailing.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing design teams and working collaboratively with clients and main contractors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design software.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Relevant qualifications in Architectural Technology, Construction, or Engineering (HNC/HND/Degree).
- A proactive, detail-focused approach and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
