Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Design Manager to oversee the design process for a growing portfolio of UK power infrastructure projects. You will coordinate civil, structural and electrical disciplines from early design through delivery, partnering with engineering, project and construction teams to ensure compliant, safe solutions.

The role requires strong experience in power/utilities design coordination, familiarity with CAD/BIM, and a relevant engineering qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience in power/utilities or high-voltage infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating engineering design across projects.
• Experience with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and design assurance.
• Familiarity with CAD and BIM environments.
• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or degree) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage design development throughout the project lifecycle.

An established infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of projects across the UK power sector.

This is a key technical role, overseeing the design process across complex electrical infrastructure projects and working closely with engineering, project and construction teams from early design through to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Managing design development throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinating civil, structural and electrical engineering disciplines.
• Reviewing technical information, specifications and design documentation.
• Managing design interfaces between engineering and construction teams.
• Supporting project teams with technical queries and design changes.
• Monitoring design programmes, resources and engineering deliverables.
• Identifying and managing technical and design risks.
• Supporting site surveys and project meetings where required.
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, specifications and safety requirements.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams, clients and external design partners.

Requirements

• Previous experience within power, utilities or high-voltage infrastructure.
• Strong experience managing or coordinating engineering design.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Good understanding of engineering standards and design assurance.
• Familiarity with CAD and/or BIM environments.
• HNC/HND, degree or equivalent engineering qualification preferred.
