Job description

PSR Solutions are currently recruiting for a Permanent Design Manager in North Essex. This will be working for a reputable contractor who works within the Rail and Civils industry, they are looking to bring in someone with a strong background in Water, Rail or Infrastructure.

As the Design Manager, you’ll:

• Lead and manage the Design Team and sub-contractor designers day-to-day.
• Work under the Framework Manager and be part of the Management Team, overseeing projects from inception to completion.
• Plan, allocate, and monitor resources to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the correct standards.
• Oversee CDM (Construction Design & Management) and quality compliance, ensuring all designs meet water industry regulations.
• Mentor and develop your design team - providing leadership, guidance, and training to align with engineering standards.
• Drive cultural and safety change, ensuring hazards in construction and operation are eliminated or reduced.
• Facilitate meetings (internal and external) to review progress and resolve technical issues.
• Champion innovation, exploring new technologies and strategies to improve project delivery efficiency.
• Represent the company as an ambassador, promoting company initiatives and maintaining client relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, or similar).
• Experience in the water industry and design within construction.
• Strong management skills - able to lead, motivate, and influence both teams and clients.
• Understanding of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality), and knowledge of relevant legal and industry standards.
• Proficiency in IT tools, especially Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD (ACAD).
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical data clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Experience in managing multiple projects concurrently in a hybrid working environment.
