Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Design Manager to lead the engineering design delivery on the Energy on the Western Isles Project, based out of Glasgow with regular travel to Inverness and Highlands sites. You will manage multi-disciplinary design packages, drive Tender and Early Contractor Engagement stages, and ensure compliance with CDM 2015 while coordinating with internal and external designers and OEMs.

Qualifications

• Experience managing multi-disciplinary design packages.
• Experience as Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015.
• Desirable delivery experience of substation projects for UK Transmission Service Operators (TSOs) such as SSEN/National Grid/Scottish Power Energy Networks/NIE Networks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design delivery of major Transmission HV 132/275/400kV substations and extensions.
• Lead Design Management at tender and Early Contractor Engagement stages and allocate resources.
• Integrate HV Plant, Protection & Control and Civils from internal and external designers and OEMs.
• Act as Principal Design Representative, ensuring CDM 2015 compliance and design information control.
• Drive continual design management process improvement within the Business Unit.
• Review design packs for technical compliance, quality and completeness.
• Monitor procurement and expediting for key engineering services and equipment.
• Coordinate with Temporary Works Coordinators to ensure constructability and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to Standards, Client requirements, and contract terms including fees and schedules.
