Job summary

A national drywall contractor in Maidstone seeks a talented Designer to interpret customer requirements and produce detailed drawings. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years in construction, preferably in the drywall sector, and expertise in AutoCAD. This role offers an opportunity to work on significant projects ranging from £1m to £5m, within an ambitious and expanding company.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years proven Construction background, ideally in drywall sector.
• Experience of working to design standards.
• Understand manufacturing technologies, processes techniques, and installation procedures.
• Proven experience of working to deadlines and programme.

Exciting opportunity for a talented Designer with experience of internal partitioning.

We are currently working alongside a national specialist drywall contractor established over 50 years and involved in drywall, ceilings, plastering, rendering and steel frame systems. They are fully committed to new technology through investment in research, development and improving processes for productivity and efficiency. Their goal is to be the first point of contact for any customer on any construction project, from initial design all the way through to project completion. They are keen to recruit a talented Designer to work on projects from £1m - £5m.

The successful Designer will be responsible for

• Interpreting customer requirements to produce general arrangement drawings
• Liaise with the customer if required (clarification of drawings and requirements)
• Producing accurately detailed fabrication drawings to allow the fabrication of a structurally sound, bespoke product manufactured from the correctly specified materials
• Manage projects through the design phase via client contact; liaising with the relevant Contract Manager appropriately
• The Designer will liaise with sub-contractors and architects to comprehensively understand the project requirements
• Be commercially minded enough to analyse and arrive at the most cost-effective solution
• General drawing office administrative duties as and when required.
• of design meetings at site and client’s offices.

The Designer will have a thorough understanding of AutoCAD – Essential.

• Minimum 3 years proven Construction background. Ideally in the drywall sector.
• Experience of working to design standards.
• Understand manufacturing technologies, processes techniques and installation procedures.
• Use of in-house systems and standard drawing office procedures for design processes.
• Good communicator telephone / email.
• Proven experience of working to deadlines and programme.
