Job description
Design Manager

This would suit an experienced Design Manager ideally with a background in special‑purpose machinery or automated solutions. Projects can vary in size from £50k up to £2m and often within automotive, medical, industrial and aerospace industries.

Salary £55K - £65K, 25 days holiday, pension contribution, laptop & phone

Hours Monday - Friday, 1pm finish Fridays.

The role
  • Manage a small team of 4 design engineers.
  • Design using 2D AutoCAD and Inventor 3D CAD software.
  • Design machines and systems from the concept stage through to the final detailed stage.
  • Involved with the planning, organising and customer meetings working closely with the project leader.
  • Solving problems and initiating corrective actions as required to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop team skills set and motivation.
  • Proactively engage with emerging advances such as digital twins and Industry 4.0 principles.
  • Lead design reviews.
  • Participate in customer meetings to clarify technical requirements and present design concepts.
Person Profile
  • Several years' design management experience – essential.
  • A senior design engineer from the automation sector will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, robotics, and automation technologies – all beneficial.
