Job summary

Binnies, part of RSK Group, is seeking a Design Manager – Water Recycling West to lead engineering design delivery for water recycling and wastewater projects in the West region of the @one Alliance, based in Peterborough. The role heads a multi-disciplinary team and collaborates with delivery, procurement and construction functions.

The position is hybrid, with office presence three days per week for Anglian Water region, and flexible hybrid options for candidates further afield.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• Chartered status or actively working towards it preferred.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering design for capital projects.
• Experience in the water sector or large infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of CDM regulations and design responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design delivery across water recycling and wastewater projects.
• Develop and manage Engineering Project Plans covering scope, programme, cost, risk, and resources.
• Direct multi-disciplinary teams (process, mechanical, electrical, civil) to deliver high-quality design solutions.
• Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to integrate designs effectively.
• Drive affordability, value, and low-carbon, environmentally sustainable solutions.
• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and lead a strong health and safety culture.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Support innovation, standardisation, and the use of digital engineering (including 3D modelling).
• Work closely with wider alliance functions in delivery, procurement, and construction to achieve project outcomes.

The role

The Design Manager – Water Recycling West leads engineering design delivery for a diverse portfolio of water recycling and wastewater projects in the West region of the @one Alliance. The role heads a multi-disciplinary engineering team and sits within the wider alliance structure, working alongside delivery, procurement, and construction functions. It is a full-time permanent position based in Peterborough.
