Qualifications

  • Strong skills in reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, with attention to buildability, quality, and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders, demonstrating planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

Role Description

The Design Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Kegworth, with flexibility for some work from home. This role oversees the design process from early concept through construction, coordinating internal teams, external design consultants, and subcontractors to ensure design information is accurate, buildable, and aligned with project requirements. The Design Manager reviews drawings and specifications, manages design changes, and supports value engineering while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day responsibilities include attending project meetings, tracking design deliverables and approvals, resolving design-related queries from site teams, and supporting tender and pre-construction activities. The role also involves maintaining strong communication with stakeholders and contributing to continuous improvement of design standards and processes.

Qualifications
  • Experience in design management within construction, civil engineering, or related fields, including coordination of multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Strong skills in reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, with attention to buildability, quality, and compliance.
  • Proficiency with common construction design and collaboration tools (e.g., CAD/BIM viewers, document management systems, and MS Office).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders, demonstrating planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with site teams, consultants, clients, and suppliers.
  • Sound understanding of relevant building regulations, standards, and health and safety requirements in the UK construction sector.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in social housing or infrastructure projects is advantageous, along with a commitment to sustainable and innovative design practices.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, showing self-motivation, accountability, and reliability when working both on-site and from home.
