Design Manager | Hertfordshire (Office Based) | Main Contractor | October 2025

Join a well-established design & build contractor delivering technically complex commercial and self-storage schemes across London and the South East.

You'll take full ownership of design coordination and BREEAM compliance across multiple live projects from consultant appointments through to certification and handover.

This is a standalone role with real responsibility from day one, working closely with the Construction Director and project delivery teams as the company continues to grow.

The Role

• Appoint and coordinate architects, engineers, and specialist design consultants
• Control drawing information via the project portal and issue updates to site teams
• Manage statutory authority approvals, building control, and warranty providers
• Lead the BREEAM process from design through to post-construction certification
• Coordinate subcontractor design information and ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements
• Conduct post-construction reviews to improve future design delivery

• Proven experience as a Design Manager or Technical Manager (main contractor or developer)
• Strong understanding of BREEAM procedures and sustainability coordination
• Background in light industrial, commercial, or self-storage projects
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
• Technically strong, well-organised, and confident communicating with design teams, clients, and authorities
