Overview

Hill McGlynn is representing a well-established, forward-thinking main contractor in their search for a skilled and driven Design Manager to join their Central London team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of high-profile construction schemes within the commercial, residential, and mixed-use sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate design activities across project stages.
  • Liaise with internal departments, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Ensure all design work aligns with regulatory standards, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Support the planning and procurement process with relevant technical input.
  • Identify risks and assist in design value engineering opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing support during the construction phase regarding design queries.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Design Manager role within the UK construction industry.
  • Exposure to a variety of project types – ideally commercial or residential developments.
  • Advantageous: Prior experience working on cladding and façade packages.
  • Solid understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry compliance standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant academic background in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
