Location: South West England (Bristol) • Contract type: Full time permanent • Functions: Design.

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking a Design Manager to oversee the design aspects of tenders and projects within a multi‑discipline rail framework. The role involves managing multiple activities and work streams, communicating at all levels across the supply chain, and forging close partnerships with various client functions to deliver cost‑effective, buildable and quality projects.

Opportunity

Experience within the civil engineering industry is essential, ideally coming from a main contractor background. This role is suitable for an ambitious, driven individual who embraces the challenge of working within a high‑performing and supportive team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service for the client at Bid/Delivery stage.
  • Manage design aspects of tenders and projects in progress.
  • Communicate with the supply chain and client organisations across all levels.
  • Support the wider rail business’s delivery team to successfully deliver projects.

Qualifications

  • Rail experience required.
  • HND/HNC/Degree.
  • Membership of a relevant Professional Institute (e.g., CIOB).
  • Experience on both single‑stage tenders and preferred‑terms procurement routes.
  • Experience on bidding and winning work.
