Job summary

Certus Recruitment is partnering with an established UK manufacturer of furniture and acoustic products to recruit a hands-on Design Engineer in Haverhill. You will design furniture, office pods, screens and components using SolidWorks, and prepare CNC data for production.

Working closely with manufacturing, you will apply manufacturing principles, drive efficiency and cost improvements, and help introduce advanced CNC capabilities while managing several projects in a busy factory environment.

Qualifications

• SolidWorks CAD designs ready for production.
• Good understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on approach to problem solving and design for manufacture.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience with CAM/Nesting software or 3-axis/5-axis CNC routers is advantageous.
• Background in furniture, joinery, woodworking or panel processing is beneficial.
• Full UK driving licence.

Certus Recruitment is partnering with an established UK manufacturer of commercial furniture and acoustic products to recruit a hands-on Design Engineer.

This is an opportunity to combine SolidWorks design, CNC technology and practical engineering, taking products from concept through to manufacture. You'll help develop new and existing products, work closely with production and contribute to the introduction of advanced 5-axis CNC capabilities.

The Role

• Design and develop furniture, office pods, screens and associated components.
• Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Prepare CNC programs, nesting data and production information.
• Apply Design for Manufacture principles to improve quality, efficiency and cost.
• Work with production to solve technical challenges and improve manufacturing processes.
• Support new product development, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Strong SolidWorks skills and experience producing production-ready CAD designs.
• Good understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and design for manufacture.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience with CAM/nesting software or 3-axis/5-axis CNC routers would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

• 21 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, increasing with service to 25 days.
• Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:30pm; Friday finish at 5:00pm.
• Hands-on involvement in product development and modern CNC technology.
