Design Engineer – Fire Alarm & Detection Systems

📍 Location: Sunderland
💷 Pay Rate: £400 per day
🕐 Contract: 1-month temporary assignment (potential to extend)

Opportunity

Pertemps are proud to be working with a well-established building services contractor who require a Fire Alarm Design Engineer to support a live project in Sunderland. This is a site-based/Hybrid position offering the chance to take full responsibility for the design and technical delivery of fire alarm and detection systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in producing accurate design drawings, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance across all stages of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and review fire alarm and detection systems
  • Prepare and update “As Built” documentation and design records.
  • Complete Advanced MxPro5 loop and power calculations.
  • Deliver all design work using BIM, CAD, and VESDA Aspire software.
  • Carry out onsite checks to ensure installation accuracy and system compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure smooth project progression.
What We're Looking For
  • Strong background in fire alarm and detection design.
  • Practical knowledge of VESDA, Revit, CAD, and relevant standards.
  • Confident working independently in a site-based environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Further Details

Hours: 50 per week- flexible working times
Contract: 1 month, with the option to extend
Rate: Up to £400 per day (dependent on experience)
