Job summary

A building services contractor is seeking a Fire Alarm Design Engineer for a project in Sunderland. This site-based role involves responsibility for the design and delivery of fire alarm and detection systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire alarm design, practical knowledge of VESDA and CAD, and excellent communication skills. The contract is initially for 1 month with a pay rate up to £400 per day depending on experience.

The Opportunity

Permats are proud to be working with a well-established building services contractor who require a Fire Alarm Design Engineer to support a live project in Sunderland. This is a site-based/Hybrid position offering the chance to take full responsibility for the design and technical delivery of fire alarm and detection systems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in producing accurate design drawings, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance across all stages of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and review fire alarm and detection systems
• Prepare and update “As Built” documentation and design records.
• Complete Advanced MxPro5 loop and power calculations.
• Deliver all design work using BIM, CAD, and VESDA Aspire software.
• Carry out onsite checks to ensure installation accuracy and system compliance.
• Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure smooth project progression.

What We’re Looking For
