Design Engineer
Winsford

Overview

Certain Advantage is partnering with an engineering manufacturer to recruit an experienced Design Engineer. You will turn agreed customer specifications into practical engineering solutions, taking projects from initial brief through detailed design and release of drawings, while supporting production to deliver a smooth, on-time build.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use the existing design library to create and configure new contracts, from agreed requirements through all design stages to final drawings.
  • Reuse and adapt previous contract designs where suitable to speed up new projects and maintain consistency across the range.
  • Support manufacturing once projects enter production, helping resolve design issues and keep builds on track.
  • Contribute to new product development and continuous improvement as part of cross‑functional teams, updating and enhancing standard designs.
Qualifications
  • Strong, proven mechanical design engineering experience delivering complete solutions.
  • SolidWorks expertise, including 3D modelling and production‑ready drawings.
  • Mechanical or Production Engineering qualification to at least HNC (or equivalent), or comparable experience.
  • Broad mechanical design and draughting background in a manufacturing setting, confident with SolidWorks.
  • Competent user of standard PC and office software.
Interview Topics

  • Your experience with lean manufacturing and value engineering, with interest in applying these to improve designs.
