A recruitment agency in the UK is seeking a Design Engineer to join a busy and dynamic team. The role involves controlling workflow, engaging with customers, and utilizing SolidWorks for design. The ideal candidate should have strong CAD skills and a solid understanding of hydraulic components. Working hours are Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:30, and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic components and their assemblies.
  • Experience in design calculations, including knowledge of steel types and seal specifications.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Controlling the workflow and supervising a Trainee Design Engineer.
  • Utilise SolidWorks/3D CAD to design mechanical components.
  • Understand and apply calculations to specify correct designs for production jobs.
  • Engage with customers regarding product designs and specifications.
  • Ensure drawings are issued and maintained per company standards.
  • Oversee prototypes and new designs.

Skills

Our well-established client supply a wide range of industry sectors, they operate across the UK and abroad! They are recruiting for a Design Engineer with experience to join their busy and dynamic team!

Design Engineer and Responsibilities:
  • Controlling the workflow that comes through the department, being responsible for a Trainee Design Engineer
  • 3D Design & Development: Utilise SolidWorks/3D CAD to design mechanical components, ensuring designs are accurate and meet production standards
  • Calculation & Specification: Understand and apply calculations to specify the correct design for production jobs. Become proficient in steel type abbreviations and seal specifications
  • Customer Liaison: Regularly engage with customers regarding new and existing product designs and ensuring all specifications are met
  • Drawing Office Guidelines: Ensure that all drawings are issued and maintained in line with the guidelines set by the M.D and company standards
  • Project Management: Oversee prototypes and new designs, ensuring that proper procedures, processes, and drawings are executed and adhered to
  • SolidWorks Updates: Carry out drawing updates and amendments to existing files, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Quality Control: Collaborate with the HSEQ Manager to manage queries related to drawings/specifications and ensure corrective actions are recorded and implemented
  • Mentorship: Train, oversee, and mentor the Trainee Design Engineer, fostering best practices within the Drawing Office
  • Business Development: As your experience grows, you may have the opportunity to visit original equipment manufacturers in the UK to present information and build relationships for future business opportunities
