Job summary

Financial Edge in Bradley Stoke, Bristol, is expanding its design engineering team to translate customer requirements into manufacturable stair and balustrade solutions. You will produce 3D models and detailed drawings, develop modular design solutions, and support projects from concept through to delivery.

You will create high-quality CAD models, apply engineering judgement, and ensure designs meet durability, standards, and client needs.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor for 3D modelling and complex assemblies.
• Experience producing and interpreting 2D detailed drawings.
• Knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and design-to-manufacture processes.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings aligned with project timelines.
• Apply engineering judgement to develop buildable layouts and solutions.
• Integrate structural considerations and ensure durability and standards compliance.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations and Project Teams for design accuracy.
• Manage drawing workflows and ensure documentation is current.
• Liaise with suppliers on specifications, materials and manufacture processes.
• Develop and maintain BOMs across design systems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and automation of design processes.

We are growing and have more opportunities for design engineers to join our team in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. The company is going through a sustained period of growth and as a result of this we are looking for additional staff to join us as soon as possible to carry out the following:-

• Translate customer requirements for staircases, handrails, barriers, balustrades, ladders, and walkways into practical, manufacturable design solutions using modular systems
• Produce 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and installation layouts
• Design and develop structurally sound solutions based on modular design systems
• Support projects from initial concept through to manufacturing and delivery
• Generate clear installation instructions and technical documentation

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

• Create high-quality 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings aligned with project timelines
• Apply engineering judgement and problem-solving skills to generate efficient and buildable layouts
• Integrate structural considerations into all designs, ensuring durability and compliance with relevant standards
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, and Project Teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
• Manage drawing workflows and priorities to meet deadlines
• Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, controlled, and up to date
• Liaise with suppliers regarding technical specifications, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) across design systems
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and optimisation of design processes
• Participation in departmental continual improvement projects

KEY ATTRIBUTES

• Strong self-motivation and proactive mindset, with the ability to manage your own workload
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling, ideally including complex assemblies and Frame Generator
• Experience in Autodesk Inventor 2D detailed drawing
• Experience producing and interpreting a wide range of technical drawings and specifications
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
