Aibidia is hiring an AI-first Design Engineer to shape the next generation of our platform. This hybrid role blends design and coding, working on complex, data-rich enterprise software and leveraging AI tools to prototype and ship intuitive product experiences.

You’ll join a team with an AI-first design system and modern workflows, building on existing foundations while driving faster, iterative product development.

The Role

We're looking for an AI-first Design Engineer who combines strong technical capabilities with a solid understanding of product design, UX and usability.

This is a hybrid role at the intersection of design and engineering. You'll work on complex, data-rich enterprise software, using modern AI tools to rapidly prototype, iterate and deliver intuitive product experiences.

We're not looking for someone who simply creates beautiful interfaces or follows traditional, lengthy design processes. We want someone who thinks systematically, understands how software is built and knows how to leverage AI to turn complex requirements into functional, user-friendly solutions.

You'll join a team that has already established an AI-first design system and modern ways of working. Rather than reinventing what's already in place, you'll build on these foundations, contributing to an evolving design system while helping us move towards faster, more iterative product development.

What You'll Do

Design, prototype and ship

• Translate complex business requirements and user needs into intuitive, functional product experiences.

• Rapidly prototype and iterate on new features using AI-powered tools, getting working solutions in front of users early.

• Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers and domain experts to take ideas from concept through to implementation.

• Balance usability, technical feasibility and speed of delivery, knowing when to iterate and when a solution is good enough to ship.

• Design for complex, data-heavy workflows where clarity, efficiency and accuracy matter more than visual embellishment.

Build with an AI-first mindset

• Use AI tools such as Claude, Figma and MCP integrations as a core part of your design and development workflow.

• Experiment with emerging AI technologies, agents and workflows to continuously improve how we build products.

• Apply sound design and engineering judgement to AI-generated outputs, ensuring quality, usability and consistency.

Contribute to our design system

• Build on and contribute to our existing AI-first design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product.

• Understand and apply design system principles, including components, design tokens, spacing, layouts, accessibility and interaction patterns.

• Identify opportunities to improve components, documentation and AI-assisted design workflows.

Collaborate and validate

• Work directly with users and internal stakeholders to understand problems, validate ideas and gather feedback.

• Take a lean, iterative approach to product development, prioritising early validation over lengthy discovery cycles.

• Collaborate closely with Engineering to ensure designs are technically achievable and can be efficiently implemented.

• Continuously refine solutions based on user feedback, technical constraints and evolving business needs.
  

What We're Looking For

• A hybrid design and engineering background, with hands-on coding capabilities and a strong understanding of UX, UI and usability principles.

• Experience using modern AI tools as an integral part of your workflow, with a genuine interest in AI-assisted design, prototyping and development.

• Strong systems thinking, with an understanding of how scalable design systems, reusable components and technical frameworks work together.

• Experience contributing to design systems, with knowledge of design tokens, component libraries, accessibility and established UI patterns.

• Experience working directly with codebases, GitHub and modern frontend technologies, rather than operating solely within traditional design tools.

• Experience designing or building complex, data-dense B2B SaaS, enterprise or workflow-driven products.

• Experience working in a startup or scaleup environment, where priorities evolve, teams are lean and speed of execution matters.

• Strong product judgement and the ability to balance user needs, business requirements and technical constraints.

• A curious, adaptable mindset and enthusiasm for experimenting with emerging technologies and new ways of working.

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech, tax technology, compliance or other complex, regulated industries.

• Exposure to both early-stage startups and larger, more established software organisations.
