Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment Ltd is supporting a fast-growing, technically focused engineering company in its search for a skilled Design Engineer to join the team.

You will create 3D models in Inventor, perform relevant calculations, and contribute to technical documentation and supplier drawings, with 37.5 hours per week and two days hybrid.

You will liaise with subcontractors, produce accurate BOMs, and ensure designs meet deadlines, regulations, and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a similar field.
• Proficient in 3D design software (Inventor) and able to interpret drawings.
• Experience with piping/fabrication knowledge is preferred.
• Willing to learn and broaden technical knowledge across projects.

Responsibilities

• Designing, detailing, and checking components and assemblies in Inventor.
• Creating accurate manufacturing drawings for gas turbine auxiliary systems.
• Liaising with subcontractors for fabrication and creating welding / piping drawings.
• Ensuring completion of complete and accurate bills of materials aligned with design drawings.
• Performing calculations to support product design.
• Collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
• Reporting progress and identifying bottlenecks in a timely manner.
• Contributing to a structured work planning process based on deadlines.
• Ensuring accurate execution of designs and drawings within the project schedule.
• Collecting, monitoring, processing, and analyzing data; reporting findings.

We at JKR are supporting a fast growing and technical engineering company with their search for a skilled Design Engineer to join their growing team!

Design Engineer Purpose:

Supporting product designs by creating 3D models in Inventor and performing relevant calculations. Additionally, contributing to technical documentation for subcontractors and preparing specifications for essential purchased parts

Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and using modelling software for various systems. Liaising with sub-contractors for fabrication and creating welding / piping drawings
• Designing, detailing, and checking structural, mechanical, electrical, or piping components and assemblies in Inventor
• Contributing to the creation of accurate manufacturing and customer drawings for gas turbine auxiliary systems.
• Ensuring the delivery of complete and accurate bills of materials in alignment with design drawings.
• Performs calculations to support product design
• Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution
• Reporting on progress and identifying bottlenecks in a timely manner
• Contribute to a structured work planning process based on deadlines and time constraints
• Ensures accurate execution of designs and drawings within the agreed project schedule
• Responsible for collecting, monitoring, processing, and analysing data
• Reporting the data and making recommendations where necessary
• Occasional visits to customers for design and review, fabrication suppliers with Project Team, and customer sites
• Providing adequate advice, considering the laws and regulations and the relevant context of the respective country and entity

Design Engineer Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
• Hold Fabricating / piping knowledge
• Proficiency in 3D design software (e.g., Inventor)
• Must hold a strong understanding of drawings
• Be open to tasks that require additional training and actively working on broadening your knowledge

Design Engineer Working Hours:

• 37.5 hours a week
• Option of 2 days per week hybrid working
