Design Engineer – Flood Risk, Drainage & Highways | Fully Remote (UK-based) | Full Time | £28,000-£34,000 per annum DOE

Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy providing pre- and post-planning services. They specialise in assessments for planning applications for new developments and changes of use, working to the latest guidance, including the NPPF, PPG, and Environmental Permitting Regulations.

Are you the right person for the job?
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with ideally 2-3 years of experience
  • Seeking a long‑term opportunity to grow within a stable, supportive team
  • Confident communicator, able to handle client emails, phone calls, and updates professionally
  • Exposure to civil engineering, highways, flood risk, or drainage design – with flood risk experience particularly desirable
  • Detail‑oriented, reliable, and motivated to develop technical skills through hands‑on learning and mentoring
What will your role look like?
  • Work on a range of commercial and residential projects
  • Prepare designs, drawings, and calculations for flood risk assessments, drainage strategies, and highway works
  • Develop detailed designs for surface water management, SuDS, and foul and storm drainage networks
  • Support the delivery of designs in line with Section 104/106 and Section 38/278 agreements
  • Use InfoDrainage (training provided) as your primary software tool; experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D is also beneficial
  • Communicate directly with clients and project partners, keeping them informed and supported throughout each stage
  • Work as part of a team of engineers and consultants
