Job summary

Murphy is seeking a Design Coordinator to join the Energy Team on National Grid's Electricity Transmission Project, based in Cardiff with site travel. You will review submissions, lead design matters, and coordinate internal and external designers, suppliers, and contractors using Aconex or client-approved CDE systems.

The role requires exposure to design management, construction experience, and proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks, plus BIM/CDE familiarity.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in civil engineering, construction or similar.
• Exposure to design management/coordination and construction.
• Experience with Autodesk suite including AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks; BIM/CDE familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Review submissions for quality and sufficiency as directed.
• Lead design engineering matters on small/medium projects.
• Coordinate design by internal designers, consultants, and contractors.
• Ensure proper use of Aconex or client-approved CDE systems.
• Monitor design progress against the project programme.
• Oversee temporary works and constructability considerations.
• Review progress and detail using CAD/BIM tools.
• Report design NCRs and close-outs; liaise with wider team.

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Coordinator:

• Review submissions as directed for quality and sufficiency.
• Lead design engineering matters on small/medium sized project/s as directed.
• Monitor, co-ordinate, and manage the design by internal designers, consultants, suppliers, and interface contractors as appropriate.
• Endure that that Aconex (or client approved alternative CDE system) is adequately setup and being utilised correctly by all designers, site operations and external stakeholders.
• Monitor, track and report on Design progress against the project programme
• Oversee appropriate consideration of constructability and permanent works in relation to Temporary Works.
• Review design progress and detail using CAD/BIM tools.
• Monitoring and reporting on Design NCRs and associated close out.
• Liaise with the wider team such as Surveyors, Buyers, Contract Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers and Estimators to engender a team approach for each project.
