Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced mechanical/aeronautical engineer to lead rocket motor design activities, manage design evolution, and coordinate across engineering teams. You will oversee DFMEA processes, review structural analyses, and manage trials to meet customer requirements.

The role requires strong documentation skills, familiarity with DEF STAN 07-085 and EN9100, and solid project management experience across a Defence/Manufacturing engineering environment.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification, minimum HND or equivalent, in mechanical, aeronautical, physics, or related engineering discipline; alternatively, a fully time-served engineer with recognised apprenticeship and/or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Ability to gain SC level of clearance
  • Sound understanding of engineering mathematics, stressing, metals, polymers, and manufacturing techniques
  • Interest and aptitude in rocket motor design theory and practical engineering
  • Ability to evaluate technical information across disciplines with high attention to detail
  • Ability to present complex problems clearly to specialist and non-specialist engineers
  • Excellent document and report writing skills
  • Trials or assessment testing experience, such as structural testing or vibration testing
  • Computer literacy and sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Office
  • Understanding of DFMEA, Design to Cost, and Design for Manufacture principles
  • Proven ability to manage projects through the engineering development lifecycle
  • Experience developing products to customer requirements in an engineering team environment
  • Experience with safety-critical products and regulatory standards such as DEF STAN 07-085
  • Good project management experience and familiarity with P6 Primavera
  • Experience with bids and commercial management in Defence, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience operating within EN9100 or a Quality Management System culture
  • Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks

Responsibilities

Job description
