A reputable educational institution in Esher is seeking a part-time Design & Technology Technician to support a thriving department. The role includes preparing resources for lessons, assisting during classes, and ensuring a tidy environment post-lesson. A strong 'can do' attitude, excellent organizational skills, and prior relevant experience are essential. The position is term time only, with a flexible working pattern, and offers a range of staff benefits including professional development support and pension contributions.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a part-time Design & Technology Technician, to join our existing team of three Technicians supporting our Art, Textiles and Food Technology areas. This role is to commence in March 2026. As a Technology Technician you will be required to support departmental colleagues by ordering and preparing resources and equipment and providing support in and out of class. This will include helping to set up resources for each lesson, assisting in the lesson itself – managing resources and equipment or helping smaller groups with key activities – and packing away and tidying up at the end of the lesson. Design & Technology is a thriving department where students are encouraged to be independent problem solvers and creative thinkers. The curriculum is planned and delivered in a way to foster this as the projects equip the students with a variety of skills to help them become expert designers and makers. All of this culminates in the positive exam results the students regularly achieve. The Design & Technology Department has five purpose-built rooms, five teaching staff and three technicians. The dedicated staff all work together as a team and support each other through the sharing of good practice. The teaching team are qualified specialists in their field and teach across all the key stages. The role is term time only and the working pattern is to be agreed with the successful candidates but could be four days per week. Flexibility is required outside school hours to prepare for lessons and tidying resources away at the end of the day. Previous or relevant/transferable experience is essential. This role requires excellent organisational and communication skills and a 'can do' attitude. The ability to prioritise and provide administrative support is essential. A working knowledge of IT applications and software is advantageous but not essential. Hinchley Wood is a popular, inclusive and high achieving school celebrating student progress and development as well as academic achievement. We are located on the borders of SW London and have 1,400 students on roll. If you have a strong desire to help students of all abilities achieve the best they can, whilst fulfilling your own potential, then we would love to hear from you. You would be joining a supportive, committed and experienced team who work hard to ensure the best outcome for our students. We take staff and student wellbeing very seriously and have invested time and money in ensuring that all members of our school feel supported and happy.
We welcome pre-application calls and/or visits so please get in touch by contacting HR. Please note that we will be on Christmas break between 20th December and 5th January and will only be checking emails periodically over that period so you may not receive an immediate response to any email enquiries.
