Design and Technology Technician
Location: Epping, Essex
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)
Salary: Dependent on experience (NJC Scale)
Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and hands-on Design and Technology Technician to join a friendly and creative team at a thriving secondary school located in Epping, Essex.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality Design and Technology (D&T) lessons across Key Stages 3–5. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare, maintain, and organise materials, tools, and equipment for lessons in areas such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, and Food Technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up, and maintain equipment and materials for practical lessons.
  • Support teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain workshop machinery, tools, and stock levels, including ordering materials when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures, including routine equipment checks and record keeping.
  • Assist in the design and creation of teaching resources and displays to enhance the learning environment.
About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Practical, reliable, and safety-conscious.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Confident using workshop machinery and tools (training can be provided).
  • A team player with good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Ideally experienced in a school or workshop environment, though applications from those with relevant technical or engineering backgrounds are welcome.
