Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Dermatology Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist to join Bedford Hospital. You will lead nurse-led clinics, assess and manage patients, and support dermatological surgical procedures within a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills, contribute to skin cancer pathways, and drive service improvements within an NHS Trust known for training and development.

Qualificações

  • On the live NMC Register (Part 1) is required.
  • Relevant degree in Nursing Studies/Health Sciences.
  • Specialist practice or Dermatology course is desirable or required to undertake.

Responsabilidades

  • Manage and coordinate nurse-led dermatology clinics (assessment, treatment, follow-up).
  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic nurse to join our Dermatology Service as a Band 7 Dermatology Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist based at Bedford Hospital.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering and developing a high-quality dermatology surgical service, supporting patients through assessment, treatment, and follow-up care. Working autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide expert clinical care, undertake nurse-led clinics, support dermatological surgical procedures, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills, lead nurse-led services, contribute to skin cancer pathways, and support service innovation within a progressive NHS organisation.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage and coordinate nurse-led dermatology clinics, including assessment, treatment, and follow-up appointments.
  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Support the diagnosis and management of patients with complex dermatological conditions.
  • Work closely with Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Provide specialist wound management and post-operative follow-up.
  • Support patients through skin cancer pathways, ensuring excellent communication and continuity of care.

Person Specification
Essential
  • on the live NMC register part 1
  • has completed a relevant degree in Nursing Studies/Health Sciences
  • Have successfully taken or willing to undertake specialist practice or a specialist Dermatology course
Desirable
  • Non-Medical Nurse Prescriber (v300)
  • Advanced communication skills training.
  • Teaching and Assessment qualification
Experience
Essential
  • Demonstrable experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Specialist Practitioner, or senior nurse within a surgical setting.
  • Experience of managing complex patient pathways and coordinating multidisciplinary care
  • Experience providing specialist advice and support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Desirable
  • Experience leading service improvement projects.
  • Experience of research activities and implementing evidence-based practice.
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff.
Knowledge
Essential
  • Ability to independently manage a defined caseload.
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate patient care across acute and community settings
  • Competence in managing surgical patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and follow-up.
