Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking experienced Dermatology Outpatient Nurses to support weekend insourcing clinics across Hampshire, helping NHS Trusts deliver waiting list initiatives and improve patient access to dermatology services.

You will work with experienced consultants and clinical teams in busy outpatient settings, providing high-quality, patient-centred care throughout the patient journey, while helping clinics run safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and no restrictions.
• Recent hands-on NHS dermatology outpatient experience.
• Experience in NHS dermatology surgical settings is desirable.
• Strong patient assessment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up clinics, rooms, equipment and procedure trolleys.
• Support outpatient clinic prep and ensure needed equipment is available.
• Conduct patient observations and basic assessments as needed.
• Assist consultants and clinicians during consultations and procedures.
• Support safe, efficient delivery of patient care.
• Provide patient education and treatment advice where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
• Ensure clinics run safely and in line with standards and patient safety.

Successful candidates will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of outpatient clinics and treatment rooms, supporting clinicians in delivering safe and effective care.

• Preparing and setting up clinics, treatment rooms, equipment, instruments and procedure trolleys.
• Supporting outpatient clinic preparation and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
• Conducting patient observations and assessments where appropriate.
• Assisting consultants and clinicians during patient consultations and procedures.
• Supporting the safe and efficient delivery of patient care.
• Providing patient education and treatment advice where appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Ensuring clinics run safely and efficiently in line with clinical standards and patient safety requirements.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must:

• Be currently working within an NHS dermatology service, providing supervision and leadership.
• Have recent, hands‑on experience supporting patients within dermatology outpatient clinics.
• Have been actively undertaking this work for at least 6 months within the past 12 months.

You must also have:

• A Registered Nurse (RN) qualification.
• Current NMC registration with no restrictions to practise.
• Proven experience working within an NHS dermatology outpatient setting.
• Proven experience working within an NHS dermatology surgical setting.
• Excellent patient assessment, communication and organisational skills.
