Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Ward 12 team as a deputy ward manager. Ward 12 is a specialised respiratory ward with a dedicated respiratory support unit. We care for people with a variety of respiratory conditions working closely with the MDT to provide exceptional care. The respiratory support unit provides enhanced care for people who require non-invasive ventilation. We reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications has been received.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, support and educate junior members of the team
  • Act as a role model to your team
  • Ensure and maintain patient, staff and visitor safety
  • Hold the site bleep responsibility
  • Ensure team and patient safety, including safeguarding
  • Contribute to ward assurance and audit
  • Work with the wider MDT to ensure high standards of effective patient care
  • Ensure safe staffing levels and contribute to off duty planning
  • Assume responsibility for the devolved management of a ward/department in the absence of the Ward Manager, including assessment of care needs and implementation of evidence-based care
  • Provide senior nurse site management cover
  • Exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • Be responsible for all nursing care standards and maintain high clinical standards
  • Act as team leader and coordinate the multidisciplinary care of a group of patients
  • Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to promote a collective leadership culture, engagement, empowerment and quality improvement
